For fire alarms, NFPA 72 governs system design, installation, and monitoring. For fences, it's local zoning and building codes, plus your site security plan. The regulation comes before the catalog. Not exciting, but it's the difference between buying equipment and building compliance.

Step 2: Match the Lock to the Job, Not the Brand Halo

Master Lock is the name people know, and for good reason. But the lineup is broad, and the categories exist for a reason. The lock that handles a gate isn't necessarily the lock that handles a lockout procedure.

A construction crew cut the phone line at one client's site, and nobody got the signal until morning.
